Contrapuntal

After the first two hundred years
Her copy of the Fountainhead turned to dust,
But by then she was blind anyway
And could recite the book from back to front.

Silently she waited between sea and sky,
'Til the hands melted off her watch,
The stars evaporated and
Finally the Sun collapsed.
