I have a close mate struggling similarly, Inc. I feel for you. I've never even tried it, thankfully. A demon of a drug. Another friend, who successfully quit, read a book by that American stop-smoking guru they all criticise. It worked for him, and he is not one for forthright decisions. I personally think those patches are a false cure. But God knows ... as I say, serious drug. Really plugs into you. My mum and dad both smoked. It killed my dad at 62. Mum's still going strong. Go figure.
